The NSS unit of St Agnes College observed World Anti-Drug Day by participating in the Anti Drug Day program organized by Shri Dharmasthala Rural Development Project B.C Trust, Mangalore Taluk, Karnataka State Alcohol Restraint Board Bangalore,Canara Bank , Syndicate Bank , Karnataka Bank and District Legal Services Authority Dakshina Kannada Mangalore on 18th July 2019.
The programme began with Anti Drug Day Awareness Rally at 9.00 am from Jyothi Circle to Townhall, Mangalore.21 NSS Volunteers from St Agnes college participated in this rally . After the rally all participants assembled in Town hall to witness the stage programme.
The Chief Guests of the programme were Dr M Mohan Alva, Mahabala Chauta, Prof.P Subramanya Yadapadithaya(Mangalore university’s Vice-Chancellor) and Darshi Gangadhar (Senior Civil Judge and Legal Service authority member). The honourable guests enlightened the participants on the use as well as the abuse of drugs by the youth and the impact of the same on society .
The talk by the guests was followed by a video show on the topic “Drug Awareness “ and an oath taking ceremony to stay away from drugs by all the participants. The program ended at 12.30 noon.
