The program began with a comprehensive introduction to the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, highlighting its significance in ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. Dr. Devi Prabha Alva provided real-life insights into workplace harassment, the importance of gender equality, and the role of individuals in fostering a safe space. To enhance engagement, videos depicting various scenarios of gender discrimination and harassment in professional and social settings were presented.
Key topics covered during the session included gender equality, gender sensitization, workplace safety, and the role of individuals in preventing harassment. Discussions extended beyond workplace scenarios, addressing how gender biases persist in different spheres of life and the collective efforts required breaking these stereotypes. The speaker elaborated on legal protection against harassment, the rights of victims, and the procedures for reporting incidents.
To assess students’ understanding, an interactive quiz was conducted, covering gender laws, equality, and ethical behaviour. This approach kept the students actively engaged, making the session both informative and enjoyable. The program concluded with a powerful message on the importance of fostering a respectful and safe environment not just in the workplace but in all the aspects of life.
