Founder director – Global Concerns India, Mrs Brinda Adige gave a talk on ‘Gender Equality and Women Rights’.
Mrs Brinda Adige said, “Gender is the role that society and religion give to men and women. Ten years ago, we would not have seen these many girls in the college. Credit must go to St Agnes College and your parents who believed that you must get this academic knowledge. This knowledge is not enough if you do not make use of it. Learning is something that you need to take to yourself.
Today, we have women who are so accomplished yet they are continuing to do all the household work. No one can threaten us as long as you are not scared and intimidated. We should remember to believe in ourself, love ourself as we are, and should not let anyone dictate anything.”
“We are being conditioned that good woman will do these things and good women go to heaven. Ask yourself if you should live a life of hell on earth to go to heaven. You need to live a good life that does not harm another human being, not speak ill about another human being and not exploit another”, she said.
Sr Dr M. Venissa A.C., Principal, Mrs Marjorie Aranha, Alumni and Mrs Sheryl Preethika, Women’s Cell convenor, St Agnes College were present.
Women’s Cell Secretary Ms Sania Fathima welcomed the gathering, Ms Avrel Rodrigues of final year B.Com. proposed the vote of thanks and Ms Ritusha Harish of final year B.Com. compered the event.
The session was attended by all faculty and students of St Agnes College.
