The students of first year M. Com attended a half-day program on Soft skills held by Ms. Vidhya Shenoy on the 26th of September, 2019 to enrich and inculcate the corporate etiquettes on presentation and communication. The program commenced with Ms. Jasmine Fernandes welcoming and introducing the mentor for the day to the audience. The HOD of Commerce, Dr. Catherine David was present for the inaugural as well.
Without much ado, Ms. Shenoy got right into the topic. She started by demonstrating the power of communication by conducting a small activity. Through this activity, she demonstrated how clarity in speech as well as listening is essential for effective communication. She then explained the three V’s of Spoken Communication i.e.,Visual, Voice and Verbal. She explained each concept and their elements with relatable day-to-day examples and videos of great leaders and powerful speakers.
Ms. Shenoy also gave simple yet smart tips on how to prepare a presentation as well as how to present it. Lastly, she engaged the participants in various activities, so that they became aware of their communication skills and how they could enhance it.
The two-hour enrichment program ended with Ms. Rishel D’Souza delivering the Vote of Thanks.
All in all, the soft skill program was beneficial and very educative to each and every student who participated in the event.
