The Department of Commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organised a session on ‘Train the Trainer’ which was conducted by M. Ananya, a renowned Soft Skills Trainer, on 29 November 2022. The objective of the session was to enhance the participants’ abilities in conducting effective group discussions, building cohesive teams, delivering impactful presentations, and improving listening skills. The session aimed to equip trainers with the necessary skills to facilitate successful training programs. The session began with a comprehensive discussion on the art of conducting effective group discussions. Ms Ananya emphasized the importance of setting clear objectives, creating an inclusive environment, and managing diverse viewpoints. She shared various techniques to encourage active participation and effective communication within a group. Participants were actively involved in role-playing scenarios to practice their facilitation skills. The next segment focused on team building, emphasizing the significance of fostering collaboration and teamwork within organizations. Ms Ananya shared various team-building exercises and activities that promote trust, communication, and synergy among team members. The participants engaged in interactive exercises that encouraged them to develop strategies for building cohesive teams.

Ms Ananya then moved on to the topic of presentation skills, highlighting the key elements of delivering an impactful presentation. She discussed effective techniques for structuring content, utilizing visual aids, and engaging the audience. Participants were given opportunities to deliver short presentations, followed by constructive feedback from Ms. Ananya and their peers.

The final segment of the session focused on the essential skill of active listening. Ms Ananya emphasized the importance of attentive listening and provided strategies for improving listening skills. Participants engaged in listening exercises and were encouraged to practice empathetic listening to foster effective communication and understanding.
