The session was started by a prayer song led by the students. Dr Nagesh, Dean – Arts and Humanities introduced the speaker and welcomed the gathering.
The speaker began his session by giving a thorough background on the topic. He said that according to researchers, Hindi is the most spoken language in the entire World. Just like English and Kannada, Hindi has also evolved to become an important language which can help people to earn for a living. In the earlier days there was a belief that if one knows English, then he or she would become successful. But now this misconception has been changed. Hindi can help us to earn and become successful in life. It has become a popular language in foreign countries. Vishv Hindi Divas also known as International Hindi Day is celebrated all over the World.
He also spoke about the Indian Hindi movies. Hindi film industry has completed 100 years of its existence. Movies are not just for entertainment but it is also about learning new things and enable us to apply good qualities shown in the movies in our live. He narrated the example of the movie “Taare Zameen Par”, “Toilet-Ek Prem Katha”, “Damini” which emphasizes the importance of love to special children, cleanliness and significance of women. He also gave several other examples and said that movies give us more than entertainment. He gave the example of the movie “Hindi Medium” which explains the struggles of parents in order to educate their children.
He concluded by saying that movies have a huge impact on the society since people are attracted towards the characters and tend to follow the behavior of their favorite characters. Movies must be a means to deliver good thoughts into people. And everyone should learn something good from the movies. Shaikh Afiya of II BBA proposed the vote of thanks.
