Name of the Competition: “PIXELATE”
The Department of Computer Science and Computer Animation organized a Pixelate competition on the occasion of Science Day 2025. Due to overwhelming interest, the competition was structured into two round: a Preliminary round and a final round.
DAY 1
The Preliminary round of the Pixelate competition, held on 27-02-2025, commenced at 12:40 PM at the Open Air Stage. Participants gathered during the lunch hour to receive the on-the-spot theme that was “Campus Vibes”, and at 12:45 PM, the competition began. Competitors were tasked with creating pixel photography within a strict timeframe, submitting their finished work via email by 1:10 PM.
The submission process required files to be named in the format “Regno_class”, and adherence to the deadline was crucial, as late submissions resulted in disqualification. The entries were evaluated by Ms Melanie from Department of Journalism and Ms Seementhini Fernandes, HOD of Department of Computer Science, and the top eight participants were selected to advance to the final round.
DAY 2
The Science Day event was organized by the Departments of Science held on 28-02-2025 at 9:15 AM in the Conference Hall of Sophia Block. The Chief Guest for the Inaugural was Dr. Praahas Amin, HOD and Associate Professor from the Department of Computer Science and Design at Canara Engineering College, Mangaluru, indicating an interdisciplinary approach to the celebration.
The Keynote address was given by the Chief Guest, a prominent speaker spoke about the Importance of Science and Astronomy. It was an interactive session. The formal inaugural program came to an end at 10:40 AM. Later Participants gathered near Open air stage for Final round at 10:45 AM to receive the on-the-spot theme that was “Nature Macro Photography”, and at 10:45 PM, the competition began. Competitors were tasked with creating pixel photography within a strict timeframe, submitting their finished work via email by 11:45 AM. The entries were evaluated by Ms Anusha from the Department of Journalism and Ms Neetha Bangera from Department of Computer Applications.
