On the occasion of the “Save Earth Project” the Department of Psychology and Department of History, St Agnes College (Autonomus), Mangaluru jointly organized a sapling distribution program for the staff and students of KG to PG of St Agnes Campus institutions. Mr. P Shreedhar KFS, Assistant Conservator of forest, Vigilance Mangaluru division inaugurated the Programme. In his inaugural speech Mr Sreedhar highlighted the factors responsible for the rapid climatic and environmental changes taking place due to deforestation, he stressed the need to protect and conserve the earth, individuals should take responsibility by planting saplings either to celebrate occasions like birthdays or anniversaries. Presiding over the program Principal Sr Dr M.Venissa A.C. encouraged the students to be active participants in the save earth project initiated by the college. The program was initiated by the Departments of Psychology and History. Mrs. Vinatha. K, HOD of Psychology and Mrs Meera, HOD of History coordinated the programme.
More than 250 fruit bearing, flowering saplings and vegetable seeds were distributed to the students and staff of the St Agnes institutions. Ms Vijayabharathi compered the program, Ms Sahana welcomed the gathering and Ms Reeshal rendered the vote of thanks. The program was concluded by planting a sapling by The Chief Guest and The principal followed by the distribution of saplings.
