Communication is one of the integral parts of science that has always been a focus point for exchanging information among parties at locations physically apart. Mobile communications, which were regarded as a luxury only two decades ago, are now vitally important to individuals, to communities, to businesses, and to the wider economy. Today, mobile communication has become the backbone of the society. Connecting to the Internet via a mobile device has become the integral part of the whole world.
In order to give an opportunity to learn the importance of mobile communication and how a mobile phone works and to get the knowledge to repair it in emergency, Department of Physics, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore organized two days workshop on “Mobile Communication and Maintenance” on 13 and 14 November 2018 under Star College Status, DBT New Delhi. The workshop was inaugurated in the morning of November 13, 2018. Mr Murali H, Director (Operations) of BDPS Computer Education, Mangalore was the Chief Guest and Sr Dr M Jeswina AC, Principal of the College presided over the inaugural programme.Prof. Mariola C Pinto, Chairperson & Coordinator of the workshop explained the purpose and the background of the workshop. Prof. Marina Lobo welcomed the gathering. Mr Murali H expressed his appreciation of the efforts made by Physics Department of the College towards gaining knowledge in ‘Mobile Communication & Maintenance’ and stressed the importance of using mobile phone positively in our life. Sr Dr M Jeswina A.C inspired the students to make use of the workshop and also expressed her views on the importance of mobile communication. Sr M Evet Priya AC rendered vote of thanks. Ms Lidia Maria DSouza compered the inaugural programme. Later for two days the sessions with practical on Introduction to Electricity, Mobile communication, Mobile phone theory, trouble shooting were taken up by the Resource persons Mr Rajesh Kumar and Mr Michael Luis. Students deeply appreciated the commitment, enthusiasm and knowledge shared by the two resource persons. The valedictory session was conducted on 14, November 2018. Mr Rajesh Kumar and Mr Michael Luis presided over the valedictory session. The participants expressed their extreme satisfaction on what they learnt from the workshop. Certificates of participation were distributed to mark the closing of the ceremony.
