An orientation programme was organized by the Student Welfare Committee, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru for the class representatives and their assistants on 5 August 2023.

The first session was conducted by Mrs Vinatha K, HOD & Associate Professor of Psychology, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, focusing on the significance of leadership among students and explored various essential leadership qualities such as goal-setting, creativity, honesty, effective communication, time management, commitment, self-awareness, positive attitude, problem-solving, critical thinking, and receiving constructive feedback. Interactive activities were included to provide practical insights into the responsibilities and challenges of leadership.

Mrs Akshatha Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications (MCA), St Agnes College (Autonomous), led the second session, focusing on the theme teamwork. She discussed how effective teams contribute in achieving ambitious goals, and key aspects of teamwork, including team formation, clear communication, sound decision-making, building trust among team members, and the art of delegation. The session was engaging and interactive, with various team-building activities that enhanced participants’ understanding of the essence of effective teamwork.

Mrs Seementhini Fernandes, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Student Welfare Officer shed light on the roles and responsibilities of a leader, guiding participants through the various tasks and duties that leaders must fulfill to ensure effective leadership. Overall, the orientation aimed to equip class representatives and their assistants with invaluable leadership and teamwork skills through dynamic and interactive sessions.
