The Library and Information Centre of St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, in association with the Department of Kannada, organized an enrichment programme, ‘Odhuganinda Odhuganige: A Kannada Book Review’, on April 2, 2025, at the college library. The event aimed to promote Kannada literature, encourage students to engage in critical analysis of various literary works, and enhance their presentation skills.

Dr Vishala B.K., Chief Librarian, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the event. She encouraged students to read more biographies of great personalities and imbibe values that would help them become better individuals.

Six students participated in the event and presented reviews of selected Kannada novels:

  • Solembudu Alpavirama – Nishath Fathima (III B.A)
  • Ooru Helada Kathe – Deepthi B. (III B.A)
  • Chomana Dudi – Boomika (I B.Sc.)
  • Panjara – Vinutha D. (I B.Sc.)
  • Pinjar – Chaithanya (I B.Sc.)
  • Kaanuru Heggadathi – Nithya Dsouza

As a token of appreciation, the participants were awarded Kannada fiction books.

Dr Shailaja K., Head of the Kannada Department, who appreciated the presentations, expressed gratitude to the participants, and emphasized how the book review programme served as an enriching experience, inspiring students to explore Kannada literature more deeply.

Dr Basthyam Pais, Assistant Professor of Kannada, Mr Avil Dsouza, Librarian, along with other library staff and students, were also present for the event.
