The Postgraduate Department of Chemistry at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organised a competition on ‘Newspaper Activity’ concerning ‘Lab safety,’ which was judged by chemistry department faculty members. This session was held on 18 October 2023, at 3:30 pm. ‘The ‘Newspaper Activity’ competition was a creative and educational event organised by a Post Graduate Department of Chemistry and the Chemaura Association to raise awareness about lab safety, specifically how to be careful and aware while dealing with chemicals in chemistry labs. This event encouraged all participants to express their ideas and thoughts about lab safety through an eco-friendly newspaper activity. All PG students were eligible to compete. The participants were given newspaper. Each team had six participants, and the time limit was 30 minutes. The participants were ecstatic and demonstrated their diverse ideas through newspaper cutting.
Overall, it was a fantastic platform for spreading lab safety awareness and messages about the importance of wearing all lab safety equipment such as an apron, goggles, gloves, masks, etc. The competition provides a platform for participants to learn and educate others about the importance of lab safety.
