Skill, Knowledge, and Attitude development are the needs of current times, Giridhar Salian, deputy director principal (DDP) at Government ITI said speaking at Librarian’s Day on Thursday.
Giridhar who additionally holds charge as the Director of Karnataka German Technical Training Institute (KGTTI) stressed on the need for skill development among the youth. “It is very important to develop skill, knowledge and attitude, in order to mould a very effective & efficient personality and face the challenges of life,” he said.
DDP Salian highlighted that multiple schemes and programmes are run by the Government agencies such as Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) to Apprenticeship Training Scheme (ATS). He demonstrated the sign-up procedure on Kaushalya Karnataka and Skill India webpages and apprised the audience of the insightful details on Kaushalya Karnataka Skill Training Initiatives.
At the event organised by Library and Information Centre of St Agnes College (Autonomous) in association with KGTTI, Dr Vishala B K, SG librarian at St. Agnes Colleges (Autonomous) reminded the audience that in India Librarian’s Day is an event commemorating Dr S R Ranganath’s birth anniversary and his contribution in the field of library and information science.
Congratulating the organisers on Library day, Sr Dr Venissa A.C. principal of St Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangalore said that Libraries are excellent abodes of knowledge. It is not only a place of collection of books but is a way to transform life and society. “However it is a matter of concern that there is decline in the use of libraries due to the evolution of digital libraries. Research and motivation must create desire among the readers to read printed books,” she said.
In the backdrop of the event, the organisers also hosted a webinar highlighting ‘The Schemes under Skill Development Entrepreneurship’. Addressing over 130 participants, Dr Vishala said that majority of the youth are unaware of the schemes available under Skill India or Kaushalya Karnataka.
