The program, hosted by Ms Deane of II B.Com Professional, began with a prayer song by Ms Alisha and group, followed by a welcome speech by Ms Kiran of II B.Com ACCA. The Guest of Honour, Prof. Manoj Louis, addressed the gathering, giving them insight into the objective behind organising the Investor Awareness Programme. The Chief Guest, CA Salome Lobo, addressed the gathering about the importance of investment among the youth. The inaugural ended with words of gratitude by Ms Alisha of II B.Com.
The program was divided into three sessions. The first session was hosted by Ms N. Ifrah of II B.Com. The speaker for this session was Mr. Naveen Rego, SEBI Registered Investment Adviser and a Certified Financial Planner. Mr. Naveen spoke on the topic ‘Financial Literacy’. Mr. Naveen introduced the topic and delved into the importance of financial literacy and the ways to protect an individual from frauds.
The second session was hosted by Ms Afra Mariam of II B.Com. The speaker for this session was Mr. Leo Amal A, Senior Branch Manager Franklin Templeton India Pvt Ltd. He spoke on the topic ‘Time value of money and when to start investing’. Mr. Leo introduced the students to the concept of time value of money, calculation of interest and real rate of return and the effects of inflation on the value of money.
The last session was hosted by Ms Muskaan Ibrahim of II B.Com. The speaker was Mr Yvonil D’Souza, Investment Services Professional. He spoke on the topic ‘Money Management for Youngsters Starting Work’. Mr Yvonil spoke in-depth about the types of funds and the best avenues for investment for long term and short term investment. Students were also given worksheets to test their understanding on the subject.
