‘Aakrithi’ means a beautiful creation which outshines all other creations and NSS plays a similar role in the life of the NSS volunteers, by moulding them and giving them an opportunity to outshine. Taking inspiration from the same, the NSS Unit of St. Agnes College, Mangalore conducted for the first time an intercollegiate NSS fest ‘Aakrithi’ on 27th August 2018.
The inaugural program began at 9 a.m. with a prayer song led by NSS volunteers followed by the welcome dance. Mrs. Helen Serrao, NSS program officer welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest Sr. M Supriya AC, Principal of Carmel College, Modankap .This was followed by the lighting of the lamp to mark the beginning .The unveiling of the trophies was the highlight of the inaugural function . The Chief Guest of the program Sr. M Supriya AC gave a short speech on having a helpful nature and giving service to mankind. Sr. Dr. M Jeswina AC encouraged all the students of different colleges to participate and do their best. Around 8 colleges namely GovindaDasa College, Padua College, Milagres College, MAPS College, Ramakrishna College, Ramakrishna College( PUC), Canara College, Carmel college,Modankap participated. Six different competitions were held like Elocution, Wealth out of waste, Poster making, singing,Folk Dance and Street play.
The valedictory program was held at 3.30 p.m. Ms. Seema, Asst. NSS program officer welcomed the Chief Guest of the program Mrs. Vineetha, NSS Coordinator,Mangalore University .The Chief Guest Mrs. Vineetha appreciated all the students for participating in the fest. The overall championship was bagged by GovindaDasa College and the runner ups were Ramakrishna College. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Derik, Asst. NSS Program Officer. The program concluded by singing the NSS Anthem.
