The industrial visit to Achal Industry, organized by the Department of Commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru on 5 March 2024 aimed to provide students with practical insights into industrial operations, manufacturing processes, and management techniques. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in the field of commerce and industry.

The visit was attended by 164 final B. Com students accompanied by faculty members.

The visit commenced with an introductory session by the management team of Achal Industry, providing an overview of the company’s history, vision, and key operational areas. Students were taken on a comprehensive tour of the manufacturing facility, where they observed various stages of production, including raw material processing, assembly lines, quality control measures, and packaging.

Students were taken on a comprehensive tour of the processing plant, witnessing various stages of cashew processing such as cleaning, steaming, shelling, drying, grading, and packaging. They gained insights into the machinery, equipment, and hygiene standards employed in the process.

The visit included a session on quality control practices implemented by Achal Cashew Industry to ensure the consistency and excellence of its products. Students learned about quality parameters, testing procedures, and compliance with food safety regulations.

Students were briefed on the intricacies of supply chain management in the cashew industry, covering aspects such as sourcing of raw materials, logistics, inventory management, and distribution channels.

The management team shared insights into market trends, demand-supply dynamics, pricing strategies, and export opportunities in the global cashew market, providing valuable business perspectives to the students. An interactive session allowed students to engage with industry experts, ask questions, and discuss career prospects in the cashew processing and agribusiness sectors.
