Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at St Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangalore, organized by the NCC and Department of Political Science. The ceremony started at 8.40 a.m. in the college ground with large crowd comprising of staff, students and parents.

Mr Ronald Pereira, Sergeant(Rtd) Indian Air Force the Chief Guest, Sr Dr M. Jeswina A.C. Principal, Sr Dr Maria Roopa A.C. Joint Secretary St Agnes Institutions, Mangalore and Sr Carmel Rita Administrator, St Agnes College, were escorted by the NCC Cadets to the programme.

Sara Monis, Student Vice President of Arts welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest.
To commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, the Chief Guest unfurled the Tricolor flag and all in unison sang the National Anthem and expressed the joy of our freedom.

The NCC Cadets sang the Patriotic song and presented a Mime Show that awakened everyone’s feelings towards our Mother Land. The Chief Guest of the function Mr Ronald Pereira, Sergeant (Rtd) Indian Air Force addressed the gathering with regard to the significance of the day, he spoke about the rules and regulations which we ought to follow as a citizen of India and uphold the Nations pride. We need to respect each other and serve our country as a responsible Human being.

The Programme concluded with the Vote of thanks by Cdt Anugraha of I BA. At the end sweets were distributed to the gathering. The programme was compered by Cdt Rajshee Singh.
Indeed, it was a day of joy to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
