The Post Graduate Department of Chemistry of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organised a guest talk on“breaking the silence: understanding and confronting gynaecologic cancers” on 2 March 2024 at 11.30 am in the PG auditorium. The programme started by invoking God’s blessing through a prayer song leaded by Sister Tomsy (II M.Sc. Chemistry). The session was compered by Ms Bhoomi of II M.Sc. Chemistry. Dr. Geetha M Pinto welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person, Dr Sangeetha K, MBBS, MS, DNB, MRCOG, M.Ch (Gynaecological oncology). Further, Dr Sr Vinora AC, PG coordinator, greeted her with flower as a token of appreciation. Dr Sangeetha K is a highly skilled gynaecologist with years of experience in her field. Her passion for women’s health and genuine care for her patients have earned her a reputation as a trusted and empathetic healthcare provider. She makes it her mission to remain current on gynaecological advancements. The program was organized as a part of national science day celebration. Ms Bhavya from II M.Sc. Chemistry presented on “Impact of Chemistry in health care” which addressed most of the contribution by chemist in drug development and various other technologies that gave new dimension to the advancement of today’s health care system.

Dr Sangeetha K has enlightened the audience about the early detection methods in gynaecological cancer treatment and symptoms of breast cancer, cervical cancer and various other gynaecological conditions. Dr Sangeetha has given the insight about HPV vaccination.

First year M.Sc. Chemistry students Ms. Nandana and Ms. Sithara have given the feedback on the program. The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Irin of I M.Sc. Chemistry.
