The Department of Commerce in association with the Career Guidance and Placement Cell, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organised a Guest Talk on ‘Brain Drain Vs Retain’ on 3 August 2023. The event was attended by the Principal, Sr Dr M. Venissa A.C., the Dean of the Commerce and Business Administration, Ms Nimitha, the HOD incharge, Ms Elvira, the staff coordinators for the event, Ms Lawren and Ms Anusha along with the staff of the Department of Commerce and the students of III B.Com.

The keynote speaker for the Guest Talk, CA Valerian Dalmaida, is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, a Certified Support manager from Service Strategies, California, USA, and an approved counsellor by AVOSA. Currently he is the Managing Partner of Quick Accounting and Advisory LLC, Abu Dhabi, an accounting, tax, and advisory firm in Abu Dhabi, President of Quick Digital and Advisory, in Mangalore, Mentor and Advisor of Spearhead Media Pvt Ltd.

The program began with invoking God’s blessing through a prayer song conducted by Ms Rashmitha and group, followed by a brief introduction of the keynote speaker. Then, the Principal addressed the gathering and advised the audience to accumulate experiences from the session.

The speaker addressed the gathering on the topic ‘Brain Drain vs Retain’. CA Valerian spoke of his experience in his work life and how the times have changed, and questioned the students on their future plans regarding their place for placement. He spoke of numerous opportunities in Mangalore as a trade hub, and the opportunities granted by retirees, such as himself, in nurturing businesses and new ventures.

Ms Ifrah, the newly elected Commerce Vice-president, proposed the Vote of Thanks and Ms Bianca handed over the token of appreciation to the guest CA Valerian. Ms Vaishnavi Jogi compered the program.
