The Post Graduate Department of Chemistry and the Chemaura Association of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized a Film Screening on the occasion of ‘National Space Day’

This session was conducted on 23 August 2024.

The event was organized to honor the nation’s accomplishments in space exploration and was initiated by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). This day recognizes India’s expanding influence in the global space community and aims to inspire future generations. Ms Prathika, second-year M.Sc. Chemistry student, highlighted the importance of this day in her presentation.

A film ‘The Martian’ was screened. It’s a movie about, Mark Watney, an astronaut, who fights for survival on Mars after a space mission goes awry. As he faces various challenges, his NASA colleagues explore every possible option to rescue him.

The film encouraged students as it is highly educational, with a central theme of problem-solving. The movie reflects the “Let’s get to work” mentality that runs throughout the film. It served as an excellent motivational tool for students, especially when facing challenging situations.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Sithara, a second-year M.Sc. Chemistry student, who expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the students, organizers, and everyone who contributed to making the event memorable.
