The Department of Computer Science organized a guest lecture on “Evolution of Computing and its Impact on Society” in celebration of World Computer Day on February 17, 2025, at 3:15 PM in A2. The resource person for the event was Mr Karthik K.R., Vice President of MCA, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru.

The resource person, Mr Karthik K.R., delivered an engaging talk on various aspects of computing. He covered topics such as the evolution of computing, different generations of computers, the emergence of personal computers, and the concept of computing for everyone. He also discussed key technological advancements, including the Internet & WWW, Mobile computing, Cloud computing, Artificial intelligence, Machine learning, and various AI tools.

He also delved into the societal impacts of computing, particularly in areas such as communication, education, remote work, and social media. The session concluded with an exploration of the future of computing, emphasizing its challenges and opportunities.

The program was compered by Ms Threeshali, with Ms Himani leading the prayer and Ms Sanjana of III BSc delivering the vote of thanks. Mrs Seementhini Fernandes, Assistant Professor and in-charge of the Department of Computer Science, served as the staff coordinator.
