A training session on Self Employment was organised by the Department of Business Administration & Agnes Towards Community, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru in association with Dattopant Thengadi National Board For Workers Education and Development on 12 March 2024. During the session, participants were introduced to the art of soap making using affordable chemical ingredients, learning how to craft both solid and liquid soap at home. This not only promotes sustainability but also aids in saving money compared to purchasing commercial products. Additionally, attendees were instructed on producing phenol with minimal chemical components, underscoring the importance of self-sufficiency and cost-effectiveness. A highlight of the session was the demonstration on candle making, offering participants firsthand experience and valuable insights into potential home-based business opportunities. The significance of these skills, particularly for women seeking to establish their own home-based businesses, was emphasized, offering avenues for entrepreneurship and financial independence. It’s noteworthy that the knowledge imparted was not limited to gender, as men also stand to benefit from these practical skills for earning opportunities at home. Furthermore, each participant received 250 rupees credited to their accounts, facilitating access to ingredients and materials for practicing these newfound skills.
