The PG Department of English, St Agnes College, (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized a three-day educational field trip to Madikeri from 8 to 10 April 2025, with the objective of enhancing students’ experiential learning through exposure to diverse cultural, environmental, and literary contexts. A group of 8 students of II MA English accompanied by 2 faculty members visited places such as Raja seat, Raja’s Tomb, Nisargadhama park and Dubare elephant camp. At the Tibetan Monastery (Namdroling Monastery) in Bylakuppe, students gained insights into Tibetan Buddhist culture, architecture, and art.
On the last day the group proceeded to a plantation visit, where students were introduced to the practices of coffee and spice cultivation, a major economic activity in the region. The students were also given a task wherein a few literary quotes were given and the students had to click photos apt for the respective quotes.
The visit was both educational and rejuvenating, offering students practical knowledge and fresh perspectives that complement their academic curriculum.
