The Department of Commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organised a soft skills certificate course on ‘Survival skills in the Corporate World’ for the Commerce students at the UG level from 6 to 9 March 2023.
Soft skills are increasingly just as crucial as technical competence as businesses transition to hybrid or remote work models. Being able to collaborate and communicate effectively is essential for success in the virtual world, these skills have risen to the top of the priority list. The talent pool is getting crowded as remote jobs are in high demand and the job seekers with comparable credentials and technological expertise rise.The soft skills will apparently provide a competitive edge over others.
Day 1: Monday, 6 March
Ms. Evita Astrid Veigas, CMA, ACMA, and CGMA was the resource person for the session. She is a Strategic Value partner for the business. She is a NED aspirant, PTE & NAATI Master trainer, Educationalist and lifelong learner from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Ms Evita gave an Introduction to Soft Skills, and discussed the importance of Self Awareness, goal setting and teamwork.
Day 2: Tuesday, 7 March
Mr.Venugopal SJ was the resource person. He is a Behavioural Training Facilitator and People Development Consultant. He stressed the importance of possessing good communication skills, and the challenges and strategies involved.
Day 3: Wednesday, 8 March
Mr.Vignesh MK, CEO & CO Founder of Moorthy’s Training Academy (A Unit of the Hub Pvt Ltd) was the resource person. He discussed about Career Enhancement and prepared the students to face an interview.
Day 4: Thursday, 9 March
Mr.Prashanth Alison, HOD of Commerce, MAPS College, Mangalore was the resource person. He discussed topics such as Group Dynamics, Interview, and Presentation.
The Certificate course was well appreciated by the participants. 65 students were beneficiaries of this course.
Mr. Rodney Vaz and Ms. Anusha Noronha, Assistant Professors were the staff co-ordinators for the course.
