On 19th October 2024, St. Agnes College, in collaboration with the Women’s Cell, Youth Red Cross, and Nature’s Club, organized an awareness session on Breast Cancer Awareness and HPV Vaccination. The event aimed to educate and empower the audience with crucial information on women’s health issues, specifically breast cancer and the HPV vaccine. The session was attended by students, faculty, and dignitaries, creating a vibrant platform for discussion and learning.

The resource person for the session was Dr Lynsel Hilda Texeira, a distinguished obstetrician-gynaecologist¹ from KMC Mangalore. Dr.Texeira is recognized for her dedication to promoting women’s health and her vast experience in addressing critical medical issues such as breast cancer and HPV vaccination.

Her accomplishments, including her extensive clinical expertise and contributions to public health awareness, made her an exceptional choice for the event. The introduction emphasized her commitment to making healthcare accessible and her ability to inspire action through her educational outreach programs.

Dr.Texeira delivered a thought-provoking and informative talk that highlighted:

  • The importance of early detection and regular breast cancer screening.
  • The significance of dispelling myths related to breast cancer.
  • The preventive role of the HPV vaccine in reducing cervical cancer cases.
  • Practical lifestyle tips to maintain overall health and reduce cancer risks.

The event began with a prayer song led by Ms Nishel and her group, setting a spiritual and tranquil atmosphere for the gathering and concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Ms Shreya.
