On 17th August 2019 as an ATC activity, the final year BA students of St. Agnes College visited Munnur Village, Kuthar. The visit was done to conduct the survey in this locality and to spread awareness on Solid Waste Management. 73 Students were part of this activity under the guidance of Ms. Sonal Jesma Dsouzaand Mrs Vinitha J Prabhu, Department of Economics. Students were divided into group of 12 and each group visited around 10 to 12 houses. Several Questions were asked regarding waste management by students and surveyed accordingly.
The people of the village responded to student’s questions quite frankly and were excited and curious to address the students. They shared their problems regarding the disposal of waste on the road in their locality because of lack of corperation trash bins and dogs to dig into them, creating a bigger mess on the streets. Most of the people were aware about waste management of having a separate bin for dry and wet waste but only few people willingly followed the rules.
This activity has given a good insight to students about their community and altogether it was a good learning experience to them.
