The Department of Secretarial Practice organised a workshop on August 8, on the topic ‘Startup Ideas with Bakes and Cakes’ for the department students to know the present trends in baking industry. Mrs Vidyashree, Proprietor Bake my Cake, Mangalore was the resource person.
Mrs Vidyashree began her session by sharing her entrepreneurial journey a decade ago when she thought of establishing her own baking business. She highlighted the various challenges she had faced during its inception and the strategies that she adopted to face them. She gave practical advices for those who wish to start their own baking business, such as retaining high quality ingredients, creativity in generating unique product ideas, to value the customers preferences, upgrade with the trends, service enhancement, need for continuous product innovation which are very relevant to continue with the competitions.
She redirected their attention towards the importance of obtaining a valid license and ensuring its timely renewal, the crucial role of branding the product and then to maintain its unique identity. She discussed the various marketing strategies, including the use of digital platforms, right way of using these platforms for advertisement and how to reach and engage the target audience.
The event was followed by an interactive Q&A session. Mrs Shanthi Nazareth welcomed the gathering and Yashaswini and group invoked God’s blessings. Mrs Shivani proposed the vote of thanks. The session was for all the BA students of Secretarial Practice. 46 students benefited from this session.
