An exposure to  related research processes  along with an understanding of how scientists work on problems impact valuable learning objectives that have lasting influence on undergraduates  as they prepare for University Studies & Professional Services.

As a part of learning beyond classrooms , 40 final year BSc , Natural  Science students of St.Agnes College ( Autonomous) visited Manipal School of Life Sciences ( MSLS) on 13th of November 2019 in order to get acquainted with the scope of higher studies in Biological Sciences and Research in concerned fields.

Prof. Dr Sathyamoorthy, the Director,  welcomed the team and presented the highlights of the Institution & Prof Dr Bharath , Faculty member , Dept of Microbiology  briefed on the various  PG programmes that are offered by Manipal University thereby guided the students on various career options. 

Further the students   visited various research labs namely; Microbios laboratory, Plant Cell Culture laboratory , Mass Spectrometry laboratory, Proteomics laboratory, Radiation Biology and Toxicology  laboratory , Biophysics laboratory, Flow cytometry laboratory , DNA Sequencing laboratory and other related laboratories where they were informed of the applications & functioning of high end  research  equipments n gadgets like Bioflux, Rotary Equipment, Human blood culture Incubator, HPLC machine, Thermal Cycler, Lazer therapy Machines and High end Instruments used for identifying the cancer cells. Students were also excited to get the first hand information on  various research projects that are going on in each department.

The team also visited the Manipal Museum of Anatomy and Pathology and observed various anatomical structures of animals and human as also  the  various pathological conditions especially of humans.

The visit  turned out as  an enriching & motivational experience , it provided the students with an opportunity  to understand the importance of higher studies, research and imparting / application of the same knowledge for human welfare.

Prof.Saramma, HOD, Zoology had organized the visit, Mrs Ameetha & Ms Vivid Dsouza, the faculty members had also accompanied the team.
